Maritime Internship Program
Seize this amazing opportunity! This internship program was established and developed by Captain Kimo as a way toward the advancement of individuals who are seeking a new career or change in a career or wanting to learn and develop new skills relating to the maritime industry. This internship program is offered to individuals from ages 12 and above in the hopes that what is learned will be applied to care for and respect, Malama and Hōʻihi the oceans (nā moana) of our planet. This internship program is FREE, however, the fees for the Captains Course to become a captain, and the fees for Certification classes for Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid, are the responsibility of the intern (student).
The goal of this internship program is to accumulate the intern's sea time necessary to complete your Captain's Course and receive a Mariner Credential. Interns of this program do not get paid for learning boat skills while working onboard. This program is strictly voluntary, you are not a hired worker. You get paid in sea time, which will qualify you for entry into the Captain's Course.
This internship program is sponsored by Captain Kimos Hawaiian Adventures, a Non-Profit corporation and a Registered Native Hawaiian Organization for the Advancement of Indigenous Native Hawaiian people. Donations are accepted. This is a Non-Discriminatory Internship Program and is open to individuals described above, who are physically capable of performing maritime tasks.
Interns will be responsible for their own medical, dental, and any other liability insurance needed for participating in this internship program. Captain Kimos Hawaiian Adventures will not be held responsible for any injuries that may be sustained during any internship activities. All internship program activities are strictly voluntary and the full responsibility of the participating intern (student).
